Guthrie Green

Located in the heart of the historic Tulsa Arts District, Guthrie Green is a 2.76-acre urban park designed to bring community, culture and sustainability together.
Developed by the George Kaiser Family Foundation with support from Vision 2025 and additional grants, Guthrie Green transformed a former industrial brownfield into a vibrant urban park and public gathering space. The park features an outdoor stage and pavilion, café, interactive fountains and gardens. An open green space hosts concerts, farmers markets, food truck festivals, fitness classes and cultural events throughout the year – contributing to the pedestrian-friendly character and active street life of the Tulsa Arts District.
The park’s modern deco design highlights diverse landscaping with gardens of native plants and trees, connected by brick and concrete pathways. As both a community amenity and a landmark within the historic district, Guthrie Green plays a central role in Tulsa’s downtown revitalization efforts.
Wallace Design Collective provided civil and structural engineering services, addressing the challenges of redeveloping a constrained urban site while supporting a wide range of public amenities. Civil design solutions included complex grading, stormwater management and utility infrastructure to accommodate the park’s features. Structurally, Wallace engineered foundational systems for the pavilion, water features and site walls.
A model for sustainable urban development, Guthrie Green incorporates LED pedestrian lighting, a 600-ton geothermal well field that supports both the park and nearby facilities and a solar-paneled pavilion that enhances renewable energy capabilities. Since its opening, the park has become a beloved destination and a catalyst for community life in downtown Tulsa.
