Wallace Design Collective has provided structural engineering services for more than 2,300 AutoZone stores across 47 states since 1997. Store sizes typically range from 3,400 to 8,500 square feet, with select hub and mega hub locations reaching up to 35,000 square feet.
Structural systems for AutoZone buildings vary based on regional demands and site conditions, and have included projects with steel and wood roof framing, masonry and light-gauge stud walls and foundation systems including shallow spread footings, drilled piers with grade beams, driven pile foundations and ribbed mat slab systems.
Many locations were designed to meet the requirements of heavy snow loads, high seismic activity and high-wind regions, reflecting the adaptability and scale of AutoZone’s national program.
