Designed to invite play and connection, Chandler Park offers a revitalized, inclusive space for families, athletes and nature lovers to enjoy together.

Chandler Park, a 192-acre destination in the heart of Tulsa County, has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years through a comprehensive master plan and strong community involvement. Designed by Wallace Design Collective and Howell & Vancuren – prior to joining Wallace, the revitalization has reimagined this beloved green space, enhancing opportunities for recreation, gathering and connection with nature.

The master plan’s guiding vision was to elevate the park experience for every visitor. Circulation systems were redesigned for ease and safety, site structures and furnishings were restored, and new amenities were strategically placed to create a welcoming and cohesive atmosphere. The first phase introduced one of the region’s largest splash pads – complete with slides, water cannons and interactive features – alongside a new playground, an upgraded 18-hole disc golf course, sports courts and practice fields, and designated picnic areas. These features have quickly become favorite destinations for families and park-goers of all ages.

The park’s lower level, closed for more than 15 years after serving as a storm debris collection site, was also given new life as the “Lost City.” Wallace Design Collective provided landscape architecture and civil engineering services for its restoration, which included new parking, restrooms and an overlook with sweeping views of downtown Tulsa and the Arkansas River.

Extensive grading transformed steep, erosion-prone slopes into open lawns, creating a large green space for outdoor concerts framed by natural rock outcroppings. Roads, parking and trails were reconfigured to improve separation of vehicles and pedestrians, and the new overlook plaza now serves as a venue for community events.

Together, these improvements mark just the beginning of Chandler Park’s renewed story. With additional enhancements envisioned in the master plan, the park is poised to remain one of Tulsa County’s premier recreational destinations for generations to come.
