Harris County Public Library

Harris County Public Library delivers all the resources of a traditional library - plus much more.
Built adjacent to an existing community center, the new library has become a focal point for Hamilton, a large rural community southwest of Atlanta. Funded through Georgia’s social-purpose local-option sales tax, state support and public donations, the facility was designed to expand both access and opportunity.
Wallace Design Collective provided structural engineering services for the 15,000 square foot library, which is three times larger than the previous facility. Features include a teen area located conveniently near the high school, a makerspace for both crafts and technology, a quiet study room, computer lab, self-service business center and a children’s area designed for exploration. The library also offers a dedicated Friends of the Library storefront and an outdoor patio with a fireplace, providing a welcoming gathering space for the community.
