MetroFit – Metro Technology Centers Community Outreach & Wellness Center

Metro Technology Centers has long served Oklahoma City by expanding access to career and technology education. With the addition of the MetroFit Community Outreach & Wellness Center, Metro Tech extends that mission beyond the classroom – providing a purpose-built facility focused on physical health, education and overall well-being for the surrounding community.

Wallace Design Collective provided structural engineering services for the 10,700 square foot wellness center located on Metro Tech’s Springlake Campus. The facility was designed to support a wide range of programming and includes a group fitness exercise room with an integrated storm shelter, a demonstration kitchen and education classroom, an outdoor covered exercise space, and a dedicated employee fitness and exercise room.

The center serves as the home for Metro Tech’s Community Outreach and Wellness programs, hosting  classes such as kickboxing, line dancing, swing dancing, tai chi, yoga and other group fitness activities. Educational components, including nutrition demonstrations and wellness-focused instruction, further support the department’s goal of promoting healthy lifestyles, disease prevention and mental health awareness.

Funded through the 2019 Community Bond Initiative, the MetroFit Wellness Center represents a community-driven investment in long-term health and access. The facility provides Metro Tech with a permanent, centralized location to continue expanding outreach efforts and strengthening wellness opportunities for citizens throughout northeast Oklahoma City.
