Oklahoma State University Unmanned Systems Research Institute Excelsior Center

As unmanned systems continue to expand in impact and application, Oklahoma State University has emerged as a leader in the field.
Its Unmanned Systems Research Institute (USRI) brings together expertise in engineering, computer science, aviation and sensor technologies to drive innovation in aerial, land-based and underwater systems.
Wallace Design Collective provided structural and civil engineering services for USRI’s new 10,000 square foot research, testing and training facility. Replacing an outdated building, the one-story structure is tailored to the Institute’s unique operational needs. It includes integration rooms, an electrical room, a 3D printing lab, composite and light manufacturing spaces, and an engine-testing chamber. The facility also houses a dedicated space for a storm-chasing vehicle and additional equipment storage.
With this centralized, purpose-built space, USRI teams can efficiently collaborate on all phases of unmanned system development under one roof, supporting partners like the FAA, U.S. Armed Forces, National Weather Service and General Electric.
