University of Georgia Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall Expansion

A vital hub for athletes and coaches, the facility blends tradition with cutting-edge spaces to support UGA’s championship culture.
Named for coaches Wallace Butts and Harry Mehre, Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall serves as the administrative center of the UGA Athletic Association and the operational hub of the football program. The facility houses the players’ headquarters, including locker room, weight room, sports medicine training areas and meeting rooms, as well as coaches’ offices, meeting spaces and historical displays celebrating all UGA athletic teams.
KSi Structural Engineers, now part of Wallace Design Collective, provided structural engineering services for multiple renovations and expansions of the facility over more than a decade. The 2008 project included a one-story vertical expansion and the addition of a multipurpose room, two-story office space and a training area. In 2022, a 165,000 square foot expansion delivered a significantly larger weight room, enhanced sports medicine facilities, new locker room and player lounge, and expanded office and meeting spaces. A subsequent phase introduced food service and nutrition centers, while the final phase reimagined and renovated existing areas to support the sports medicine and track and field programs.
