Western Gateway Elementary School is designed as a 380-student pre-kindergarten through fourth grade elementary school located on the south side of Oklahoma City.

Situated at the boundary of two neighborhoods, the dual-immersion school promotes academic performance through bilingual instruction in English and Spanish while fostering cultural awareness and preparing students to thrive in a global community.

Wallace Design Collective provided structural engineering services for the new 38,000 square foot school, anchored by a 6,700 square foot courtyard at its center. The courtyard creates a outdoor space for collaborative learning and play, shielded from Oklahoma’s winds and summer sun while maintaining a connection to nature and seasonal change. Classrooms are designed for flexibility, with large open areas that maximize natural light and adaptable spaces for both group and individual learning.
