What was once a vacant department store is now a vibrant hub for ice sports, entertainment and community connection.

The WeStreet Ice Center is located inside a former Tulsa Promenade Mall department store. The 140,000 square foot facility repurposed the retail space into a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue that serves as a community hub for ice sports. It is the official practice facility of the Tulsa Oilers, home arena for Oklahoma State University’s collegiate hockey team, and home to the Tulsa Jr. Oilers Junior A program, while also offering public skating and youth sporting events.

Wallace Design Collective provided civil engineering and construction engineering services for the redevelopment, which included an ice rink, pro shop, concessions, a full-service bar and restaurant, virtual gaming and flexible meeting areas for events and celebrations.

Civil engineering services included converting a portion of the loading dock into a pad for the ammonia ice plant while preserving the easement for an existing City water main and maintaining the trench drain. The team also designed improvements at the entry points with new sidewalks and replaced existing walkways within the right-of-way. Construction engineering services included the structural design of shoring systems to safely install new trusses within the existing structure. Unique shoring solutions were developed to support truss installation and column removal while maintaining the building’s integrity throughout construction.
