James Irwin Charter Schools Berg Media Center

The media center at James Irwin Charter Schools provides access to learning in a space built for focus and connection.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, James Irwin Charter Schools is a network of five schools located across three campuses in Colorado Springs. With over 2,000 students enrolled in two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and a professional skilled trade and pre-engineering academy, the system is known for its rigorous academic programs and values-driven mission.
Wallace Design Collective provided civil and structural engineering services for a 16,000 square foot expansion designed to address overcrowding and create more purposeful learning environments. The addition, now known as the Jonathan and Elizabeth Berg Media Center, features a state-of-the-art library, a dedicated testing center and new administrative offices. The facility replaced a former multipurpose space with a facility tailored to academic support, housed in a pre-engineered metal building that strikes a balance between functional efficiency and a bright, student-focused atmosphere.
