Freedom Elementary School
Lawton Public Schools

Freedom Elementary was built to better serve the children of soldiers stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Lawton Public Schools combined Sheridan Road and Geronimo Road elementary schools into Freedom Elementary. Because it is located on a military installation, the school meets all force protection and anti-terrorism requirements. The Department of Defense chose to fund this project after Fort Sill’s aging schools made the top 12 on the Defense Department’s public school improvement priority list.

Wallace Design Collective provided structural and civil engineering services for a new 209,000 square foot elementary school with four safe rooms. The LEED Silver certified school consists of four main buildings, houses over 1,400 students and 160 staff. The $45 million facility has 69 classrooms, expansive state-of-the-art library/media center, art and music rooms, four gymnasiums, cafeteria, auditorium, counseling center and administrative offices. The 36.5 acre school area includes four parking lots.
