Phillips Fundamental Learning Center

A dedicated learning center designed to reflect its mission, teaching philosophy and the needs of every student.
The Phillips Fundamental Learning Center was created to support students with dyslexia through specialized instruction, training and community-focused learning. After more than two decades operating in leased spaces, the organization realized a long-held vision: a permanent facility designed specifically to reflect its mission, teaching philosophy and the needs of its students and educators.
Wallace Design Collective provided structural engineering services for the 37,800 square foot learning center. The facility is organized into three distinct wings dedicated to student instruction, teacher training and administrative functions, allowing each program area to operate independently while remaining connected as part of a cohesive learning environment.
Architectural inspiration drawn from the work of Frank Lloyd Wright influenced the building’s form, material expression and relationship to the site – an intentional reference to Wright’s own experience with dyslexia and his lasting impact on education and design thinking.
Outdoor learning nodes extend the educational experience beyond the classroom, integrating the surrounding site into daily instruction and reinforcing hands-on, movement-based learning approaches.
The Phillips Fundamental Learning Center provides a welcoming, purpose-built home that supports students, educators and families while advancing innovative learning methods in a thoughtfully engineered setting.
