Tornado Damage Assessment
Following a recent tornado, Wallace Design Collective provided a thorough assessment of a national retailer’s building’s post-tornado condition. The tornado destroyed about 58,000 square feet of the 154,000-square-foot building, and the assessment helped the property owners and local authorities understand the extent of the damage and the necessary steps for recovery and reconstruction. Wallace designed shoring and bracing in a way that most of the original structure could be repaired while the severely damaged portions of the structure were removed and replaced. The construction of the structural repairs and replacement was completed approximately four months after the tornado impact, providing a quick turnaround for architectural and MEP repairs to begin.
