Genetic Medicine Building
University of North Carolina

The Genetic Medicine Building is a state of the art research building on the UNC campus. It is one of the largest buildings on campus, with a floor plate of approximately one acre. Occupants of the building include the School of Pharmacy, and the departments of Genetics, Biochemistry and Biophysics and Pharmacology.

KSi, now part of Wallace Design Collective, provided structural engineering for the 333,000 square foot building. The facility includes two floors of animal holding facilities, a full service loading dock, five floors of laboratory space and a penthouse. Users include researchers from pharmacy and three medical school departments: pharmacology, genetics, and biochemistry/biophysics.
