Northside Hospital Cherokee Replacement Hospital
Without room for expansion, Northside Hospital Cherokee needed a new facility that could provide a space to deliver its services to the community, merge separate and distinct functions within one medical center and allow for future expansion. The replacement campus sits atop a ridgeline at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and includes 105 inpatient beds within the hospital tower and podium, Women’s Center and medical office building. Connecting with the community and landscape, the design team integrated Cherokee County’s slogan, “Where the Metro meets the Mountains,” as the concept to respect the legacy of the mountain ridge and embrace a balance between what is cleared and what is left natural.
KSi Structural Engineers, now part of Wallace Design Collective, provide structural engineering services for this state-of-the-art, seven-story structure. The replacement hospital houses a main tower, a women’s center and an emergency department and includes the following medical services: a cancer institute; surgical services including robotics, bariatrics, plastics and neuro; maternity and newborn services with a Level 2 neonatal intensive care unit; gynecology; radiology (imaging) with both inpatient and outpatient services; a breast care program; a spine center; orthopedics; interventional pain management; adult and pediatric emergency services; 24/7 stroke care; heart and vascular institute with cardiac catheterization and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention; diabetes and nutrition services; urology; clinical trials; gastroenterology; neurology; rehabilitation services; critical care services; respiratory care; lab services; and specialty medicine.
