O’Brate Stadium
Oklahoma State University
O’Brate Stadium is Oklahoma State University’s new baseball park in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The home field of the OSU Cowboys college baseball team, is named after Cecil O’Brate, a former OSU graduate and major benefactor.
Wallace Design Collective provided structural engineering services for a new baseball stadium to replace the outdated Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. O’Brate Stadium includes seating for 3,500 fans and is located in the Athletic Village. The complex includes an improved batting area, locker and training rooms, offices, maintenance building and new practice field. A playground area and an outfield plaza space highlight the new family-friendly concepts incorporated into the design. The concourse area encompasses the entire playing field and features restroom and concession stands down the first-base and third-base lines, plus restrooms and spaces for temporary options such as food trucks in the outfield.
The steel structure is clad in brick and cast stone to tie into the Georgian Architecture of the main campus. The structure has a combination of custom detailed frames and braced frames to resist lateral loads. The elevated structures are composite steel and concrete slabs. The new scoreboard is incorporated into the new indoor practice facility.
