Owasso Family YMCA
The YMCA of Greater Tulsa knows that lasting personal and social change comes about when everyone works together. That’s why strengthening community is their cause. Every day, they work side-by-side with their neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
The Y’s family center in Owasso, located north of Tulsa, was outdated and outgrown. Working with the City of Owasso, they envisioned a new state-of-the-art facility that would further their mission and enhance the community. The new Owasso Family YMCA features a variety of recreational areas, a double-court gymnasium, a dry sauna, cardiovascular and weight training areas, lockers and shower rooms. The family recreational pool and spa offers a “lazy river” which can be used for water aerobics, interactive water toys for children and a spectacular, 115-foot-long winding slide, a portion of which extends outside the building. The project was constructed on land owned by the City of Owasso, and was financed through Tulsa County’s Vision 2025 bond program, Owasso sales tax dollars and private donors.
