Russell Hall Renovation
University of Georgia

KSi, now part of Wallace Design Collective, provided structural engineering services for the renovation of a 230,00 square foot, high-rise residence hall constructed in 1967. The renovation work included a complete update of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing as well as window, elevator and roof replacement. The renovation utilized the University’s existing chilled water and steam infrastructure and included a four-pipe system which allowed individualized climate control in each room.

The project also reconfigured all living, bathroom and some programmatic spaces to improve bathroom privacy and enhance the student amenities including greater flexibility and increased study space. The student laundry and kitchen space was also redistributed vertically allowing for more community access.
