Wellness Center at Read Hall
Spelman College

The new facility was completed before fall semester of 2015 and replaced the existing Read Hall facility, located on the historic campus Oval. The new facility was designed to foster the development of life-long fitness skills for students, faculty, and staff.

KSi, now part of Wallace Design Collective, provided structural engineering services for the new wellness center. The project included approximately 53,000 square feet of space on two levels. The facility includes a new performance gymnasium, four-lane swimming pool, wellness classroom and teaching kitchen, an indoor track, locker space, administrative offices, and four multi-purpose rooms for dance, yoga, spin, and other fitness activities. Spelman College’s landmark decision to eliminate their Division III Athletic Program in favor of a Wellness Revolution to support their entire student body is celebrated in this facility.
