Since its formation in 1904, Broken Arrow Public Schools has become a dynamic leader in public education. The district serves more than 19,000 students in the urban-suburban community, with nearby agricultural areas and growing business and industrial bases. Due to rising enrollment, a new elementary school was needed to serve the northeast portion of the district.

Timber Ridge Elementary is designed to accommodate up to 850 pre-kindergarten through 5th-grade students. The facility includes 30 pod-style classrooms, eight special-use classrooms including art, music and STEM, a full-size gymnasium which doubles as a FEMA safe room, a cafeteria, kitchen, main offices, clinic, media center and multiple playgrounds. Timber Ridge is also the English Language Learning hub for BAPS. The school is about 29 percent ELL, the highest percentage in the district. Students from two other schools are bused there each day so they can learn from the specialized staff. A recent class had four disparate languages besides English spoken in the class — Hmong, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.
