WeStreet Ice Center
The WeStreet Ice Center, at the site of a former Tulsa Promenade Mall department store, opened on March 8, 2024. The Ice Center will serve as the practice facility for the Tulsa Oilers ice hockey team and also offer space for skating and youth sporting events.
The new Ice Center serves as a community space where ice sports are accessible to all. The cutting-edge sports and entertainment venue is also the official practice facility of the Tulsa Oilers, the home arena to Oklahoma State University’s collegiate hockey team and the Tulsa Jr. Oilers, a Junior A program.
Wallace Design Collective provided civil and structural engineering services for the repurposing of a former department store into a 140,000 square foot facility featuring an ice skating rink, in-house pro shop, concessions, a full-service bar and restaurant, virtual gaming and meeting areas for events and celebrations. Structural engineering services included the installation of shoring systems for the safe and efficient placement of new trusses for the existing structure. Our team carefully developed bespoke shoring solutions to support the truss installation and column removal while maintaining the integrity of the existing structure throughout the project. Civil engineering services included converting half of the existing loading dock into a pad for the ammonia ice plant while preserving the easement for an existing City water main and maintaining the existing trench drain. The project also involved replacing the sidewalk at entry points and adding a new sidewalk within the right of way.
