Many years ago an engineer married an artist. The engineer pursued order, symmetry and productivity. The artist did not. The artist was nurtured by free expression, nature’s beauty and spontaneity. The engineer was not. Surprisingly, both were fascinated by the random structure of the plant genera. They decided to build a garden. This allowed the engineer to satisfy his desire to subdue nature and produce something useful. It allowed the artist to express herself through nature’s canvas. There was peace in the garden. Elsewhere…well…there was peace in the garden. This is their creation.
I am that. Fine Art major, New York School of Visual Arts 1985-1987, Degree in Mechanical Engineering, University of Oklahoma 1987-1992. I do not consider the two to be opposed, but to occupy different spaces on a spectrum. -Bill
